Our School Community
At Rosherville, we pride ourselves on building strong links with our community as well as the children. To do this we organise different events throughout the school year where we encourage members of our school community, including parents, carers and members of the local community to come in to school. Examples include:
- Maths and reading workshops for parents/carers
- E-safety workshops for parents/carers and people from Huggens College Retirement Home
- Christingle arts and crafts morning and ceremony for parents/carers and people from Huggens College Retirement Home
Weekly newsletters, written by the Deputy Head, are sent home via Parent Mail and contain information about current events, dates, new developments and achievements that have been celebrated that week. In addition, parents/carers will also receive written communication via letters in their child’s book bag, email or text messages unless we are informed otherwise. Copies of these are also uploaded to the web site – weekly newsletters in the News and Events section and letters in the Parents section.
Parents and children are invited to attend parent consultations twice a year where they will spend time with their class teacher talking about their progress, looking at the work they have completed in their books and discussing the parents can do at home to further support their child.
Every child will receive an end of year report written by their class teacher, with a comment from the Head of School as well. This report will comment on the progress, attainment and effort in every subject, will identify areas of strengths and areas of development and celebrate achievements the child has made.
When a child joins Rosherville we will ask their parents/carers to download the Seesaw app, which is a way of communicating with their child’s class teacher. Each week the class teacher will post photographs and updates of the learning that has taken place in class and parents have an opportunity to make comments on this learning. For more information read the Seesaw document below.
